All the splendor of this Cathedral which was built in 1775, resides in its lyrical restoration, creating an ecclesiastical Byzantine atmosphere steeped in the roots of the spirituality of the Greek Orthodox rites.
During excavation, several churches were discovered beneath the cathedral.
The program grew to include a crypt exposing the layering of the ancient churches. The cathedral expression and facades show the different architectural styles reflecting the history of its construction.
