Municipality of Sin El Fil

The goal of this Award-winning institutional project was clear from the very start: to provide amenities for the population of Sin El Fil, while enlarging the administrative spaces of the municipality.

Located in the center of the town, the two main approaches to the site (front and rear) are treated with the same importance in order not to give the impression that the main entrance is favoring one side of the town to another, thus creating a link between the old and new Sin El Fil quarters by becoming a focal point for the community.

The program ensued: A block for the Administration of the Municipality and another for a Cultural Center, linked by a bridge housing the mayor’s offices. The Cultural Center offers a multitude of activities ranging from a large multipurpose room to a library, a computer center, a children’s activities center with a large theatre in the basement. At the ground floor, an interesting play of hard and soft landscaped and shaded areas invite people within the perimeter of the Municipality and act as a meeting place / public square for all the residents.
